What kind of bow does katniss use

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 opens this weekend in theaters across the country. And already, people are talking about the Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 bows shot by Katniss Everdeen and other archers in the film. This is the fourth film in the Hunger Games series. In each one, Katniss — played by actress Jennifer Lawrence — has used a different bow. Rebellion Longbow — Katniss starts out with a longbow in the very first Hunger Games movie.

The Rebellion is a nice imitation of that bow. We asked Olympian John Magera, a dedicated barebow shooter, what it might be. As the movie progresses, Katniss gets her next bow from the Cornucopia of Doom OK, perhaps a little dramatic , which turns out to be a whitish-gray recurve bow. Again, Katniss shoots barebow-style: just the bow, an arrow and the bowstring. Martin became involved with the movie when the prop house called looking for quality traditional bows.

Martin reportedly sent a few bows for consideration, including an extremely customized Savannah, with a draw weight of less than 18 pounds. The appeal of the light poundage was the ability for the prop shop to short-string the bow in order to use the lighter limbs to create different aesthetics.

This is not the first time a Martin Archery bow has been used on a big stage. The longbow is a traditional bow with long, nearly straight limbs that form an arch when strung. It befits people who are interested in traditional shooting with minimal additional gears. The bow fires regular, explosive, and incendiary arrows distinguished by the colors of their shafts that Katniss was able to shoot accurately from over yards away.

Verdict: Not real.
