This rotation is done by Jagex to allow those with lag or unstable connections to have a lower ping on a new server. On the high-risk world the Protect Item prayer is disabled , so all items are lost upon death. Lumbridge is commonly used by pures and zerkers. If a player ran into a safe zone while in combat, a second countdown timer appeared. During this time, the player was safe from all players except the player s who triggered the timer.
The timer would restart if the player goes out of a safe zone and returned whilst in combat. A common tactic was to run out while the other player is retaliating to restart the timer. According to Jagex, the countdown timer was used to prevent players from using "hit and run" tactics or " Rushing ", although rushing was still a major part of PvP worlds. Nevertheless, when a player is killed, the player loses nothing and will appear back at the start point.
There were certain areas in RuneScape called " hot zones ". These places were considered very dangerous as they were popular for players to come and kill each other. Many of these areas had monsters as well. A "flaming skull" icon would appear on the screen to notify players when they enter these areas. Hot zones gave players an advantage because there was a higher chance for killed opponents to drop better items in these areas, as opposed to killing players outside the hot zones.
Hot zones were more dangerous, however, due to the larger number of players in these areas who would hunt you for the improved drops they could get. In a PVP world, as of 15 July , all players start out with a skull keeping forever while on a pvp world and protect item prayers are disabled.
This means that no matter what the circumstances are, when you die, you lose all of your items. If a player managed to kill another player in combat, they would receive certain item drops from that player along with other possible PvP drops. The final drop consists of a mixture of the following items: Items the player had on them that they lost, consumables, most regular items that are not "boss monster drops" and Ancient artefacts. Most of the time, the items dropped were normal items, such as weapons and armour from non-PvP worlds.
However, in rare cases, special PvP-only drops such as Corrupt dragon equipment , and Brawling gloves would be dropped if the player you killed was risking a lot. These are special items that can be obtained as drops from PvP worlds.
All but a few other items in RuneScape can also be dropped more commonly and in greater numbers from these special PvP drops. In this game mode, one can be attacked by players of any level, almost everywhere in the world, with exception of certain safe areas.
Upon death they lose half of their total XP and the 10 most valuable stacks of items from their bank. Originally, after the release of RuneScape Classic , players could select whether or not to play as player killer characters. Players could switch from player-killer mode to non-player-killer mode in which the character could not attack or be attacked by other players three times, after which they remained at their chosen setting "forever".
PvP combat could take place at most locations in the RuneScape world. The rules of combat were the same as in modern RuneScape Classic Wilderness. Lumbridge was designated as a neutral area in which players could not attack each other; this was done to prevent a practice called "spawn camping", in which recently killed players were immediately killed again as soon as they respawned.
However, it was possible for a character to be attacked in the upper levels of Lumbridge Castle. These guard units were limited in number, however, and if all the units in a city were already in combat, PvP combat could go on freely.
At this time, the Bank of Runescape was limited to Varrock and Falador and could only store coins. As a result, players would have to carry their valuables with them, making PvP combat much riskier. Later, additional areas where PvP combat was allowed were added.
The Wilderness is a large area of land in which any player who enters it is able to attack other players. It is a dangerous place as players can die and lose their stuff except for three items or four if the player had Protect Item on before dying. Jagex felt this was true as well, since after Wilderness pking was removed, they added something which would almost be the same - Revenants. I have wanted this to happen a few times like if im training agility or something, but I don't think it would ever happen.
I don't go in the wilderness much anymore to even care about it much, but if they did bring worlds where there are no PK, would they bring revenants back in the random wilderness not in a cave.
The wilderness is essentially based on two principles. The first is risk. The second is reward. Risk suggests that you'll always have a chance to die, and while that's true in your average slayer dungeon, it's far more true here: players are more dangerous than any monster and this should certainly be appreciated. Upon entering the wilderness in any possible way, you know that you have the chance to and most likely will die if you aren't careful. That being said, PKers can be avoided.
Now, the wilderness also has rewards. Despite the possibility of death, you've got some nice things, like the abyss, the mage arena, the agility course, the king black dragon, and so on. Because the rewards are good, they should not be without risk. PKing is a necessary element of the wilderness, because the wilderness provides rewards that PKing has been traditionally used to merit.
What Helm Lardar said pretty much sums it up. If you have a problems with Pkers, go onto a different language world. I'd much rather have revs than a bunch of stupid pures named "idb0wu" running around trying to kill you. Also, there isn't really a big reward from the wildy. Agility course, ehh, that Canfis one is just as good in that level range. And once you hit 65 or 70 I think it's that you move to Ape.
As for KBD, just lava titan, and boom your there, no risk. A world where there's no pkers would mean Jagex would replace them with a constant threat that's more annoying than the occasional pker aka revenants. That is by far a worse option than pkers since outside the more highly populated worlds pkers are rather rare.
Not to mention PKers are much easier to avoid compared to ghosts that hit you before you can even see them. Pkers, give you a second to hit that log out button when that white dot appears on the mini-map, revenants are on you before you even have a chance to see them. If you have a problem with pkers just go to a less populated world. You'll often find the wilderness completely devoid of people if you do. I know, they could just log onto a foreign language server, but this IS much easier.
For example, a penguin would have a 10 second safe zone around it. The safe zone would roughly be 5x5, or if you spy on it, it's a bit like the disruption shield.
