With Kemba Walker rest getting the night off, Rose is drawing the start for the team's exhibition contest against Detroit. The veteran point guard is expected to be one of the Knicks ' first options off the bench this year once the regular season begins.
Rose tweaked his left ankle during Saturday's preseason game, but it looks to be nothing serious, and he should be able to take the floor for Wednesday's preseason game against Detroit. Rose seemed to downplay the issue after the game but also said that it would have been unwise to keep playing on it. The Knicks don't play again until Wednesday against Detroit, and regardless of how severe the injury ends up being, there's a decent chance the team would err on the side of caution and potentially hold him out.
